Check the Alliant website. They have some heavy loads with Blue dot. I have used Hodgdon HS 7 for 25 years, but it is discontinued. So is the WW20F1 wad that I used for so long. I will use the Remington SP20 wad with either Blue Dot, Herco, or Longshot for 1 oz loads.

Welcome LHitchcox to CD. We can always use another shotgunner that reloads. Thanks for the info.

Then you will have much info to share with some of the others that reload. What calibers in pistol and rifle? Done any wildcatting on your own? No Steel, I'm talking about custom reloads, nothing else.

My 20 gauge loads are 1 oz of shot using Hodgdon Longshot powder (I think about 17 or 18 grains), Winchester primers in a Remington hull shooting about 1230 fps. That load right there costs me about $4 for 25, I can't buy that performance for under $10. Now if I were loading 7/8 oz target loads I could not load them as cheap as what I could buy them at Wal-Mart or Bass Pro.
Not that your asking but, my 12 gauge loads cost me, they are just a little bit more expensive to load (1 1/4 oz of shot with IMR 800X powder about the same velocity as my 20's) and again I could not buy a comparable factory load as cheap as I can load my own, but target loads I can still buy cheaper.
This 20 gauge recipe works pretty well for me, I seen it on another site somwhere and used it with great results, I am a big fan of Hodgdon Longshot Powder...I don't reload all the time but if it's dead of winter and to cold to hunt or fish I'll crank out a few hundred rounds at a time, gives me something to do to beat the cabin fever...lol

Snide, that looks like the recipe I am looking for. I am on my last can of HS7 and my last bag of WW20F1 wads, so I have been researching current data for Blue Dot and Longshot. Looks like longshot from now on. BTW what wad are you using? I am thinking Rem SP20 for 1 oz.

Leon, Federal 12S0 wad here (I think, off the top of my head)...I also been using some Clay Buster wads that I had left over from years past..WAA20's for the 20 Gauge Loads (I think, I can't seem to remember without looking)

I have used the WW20 in 7/8 oz loads, but have used the discontinued WW20F1 for 1 oz. You know I have always tinkered with components in rifle loads, but have used the same shotshell loads for 25 yrs. I was aggravated to show up at Sportsmans Warehouse and find out my favorite shotshell components were no more.

I am pretty sure that is what I am using for the 20 Ga loads...
I can remember WW20's the 'ol standby for 7/8 loads...But I have used and believe I still have some 20F1's for 1 oz...I sure did not they discontinued them...BUMMER!:(
Well as little as I reload the ones I have will probably last me a few more years...lol
