Friends...

I'm Bill Krumpter, shopping for a shotgun -- preferably a camo semi-auto that I can use for deer hunting here in southeast Virginia (I-95 corridor). I have an 8mm that I hunt with in upstate NY, but I can't use that here.

Don't wanna spend big bucks, but do want good quality. I don't know anything about shotguns -- yet -- but a friend suggested that Charles Daly and Mossberg offer good guns at reasonable prices. So here I am!

My brother-in-law's sons do bird hunting and suggested I get a multi-barrel shotgun -- one barrel for deer, the other for birds. Makes sense to me.

Charles Daly doesn't seem to offer a multi-barrel in camo, but then I don't see one of those on Mossberg's list of affordably-priced autoloads, either. I might have to settle for a woodgrain model, but I have some time to browse for a camo model before decision time rolls around.

Well, that's it in a nutshell (for now, anyway)!

Cheers!

Bill

Welcome to the Charles Daly forums krumpterb!

If you are looking for information on CD shotguns, you have come to the right place. Post any questions you have in the Shotgun section. We have many hunters on here that can answer just about any question you can come up with. Not to mention, that Mr. Kassnar himself is pretty darn sharp, and will do his best to answer questions as well.

Glad to have you with us!

Welcome to the CD Forum Bill! You are right, the only 2 barrel set we offer right now is in black/blue (black synthetic stocks and blued barrels). The camo version is not going to make it in time for this season.

It is a great set with a fully rifled 22" barrel with a cantilever mount and a 28" vent rib multi-choke barrel. You can see it on this page (https://www.charlesdaly.com/slugpa.asp). Item number is CDGK1106.

However, since you mention that the smoothbore barrel will be for birds, I'm thinking the 28" VR barrel may not be right for you. Most guys want a 26" barrel for upland birds and the 28" for ducks and geese. What kind of birds are you going to hunt for the most part?

Perhaps the better option for you would be to buy one of the complete rifled slug guns and then buy an extra VR MC barrel in 26"

In any case, welocme again. We look forward to your partcipation here.

Sincerely,
