I recently purchased a second hand Charles Daly. It's a great weapon. I have had Colts, Remington Rands, Para-Os and one Llama (that I didn't keep long), and this is a cool weapon.
I'm curious though how old my hot rod is. I'm not familiar with how to read the serial number. A web site exists where one could determinn the age of a Colt by using the Serial #.
Does CD have such a site or does anyone know how to read the number.
Thanks, Lt. Ron

Welcome Lt Ron-good to have another CD pistol shooter aboard. I don't have an answer to your serial# question-but Mike K. should be along shortly-just wanted to welcome you. Lt?-is that military or LEO?

McQ, Thanks for the reply. The rank is Fire Dept. I retired from the Fire service in 05 as an Lt. By the way, is McQ from the John Wayne movie or part of your real name?

Thanks for your dedicated service in the fire dept. My name is John, I'm the same size as John Wayne, but the McQ has nothing to do with JW. Go to the Off Topic Thread at the bottom of this forum and look under screen name origin where we explain where got our handle from. Mine-Steve McQueen 68 movie Bullitt:dancingbanana:

Very cool...Bullitt is one of my top 10 favorite movies and one of the 2 best car chase scenes ever filmed! The other being the original "Gone in 60 seconds" from 1973.
Be safe, Ron

Lt. Ron,
Welcome to the CD Forum!
Send a PM to 'CD Docs' or 'CD Sales' with your serial number, asking for the date of manufacture, and you should receive a reply with the information.

You know, I'm just thinking out loud here, but that may be a great addition to the forums. A link to the database, with a nice front end, where an owner could put in the type of weapon and the serial number, and it give date of manufacture/import, or any other info available.

I agree the more useful information you have on the forum the better for the growth of the forum/customer base.

I like following Steel around and quoting him, it makes me look smarter.
It would be like Robs Chart on ARs. It gets quoted on many forums and even in magazines. Kind of like Field of Dreams movie-"Build it and they will come" CD probably has computer guys that could whip one up in their sleep(of course in their spare time)
