My EFS has an issue with the safety. When I hold the pistol in the left hand, the safety will not always disengage when pushing the right side release lever. The lever clicks down about half way and then stops. I can put more pressure on the safety release, but it will not go down unless I push it back up, relax my grip and then press it down again.

Pressing the release while holding it right handed, there is no issue. The release always goes down. The problem only show up left handed. The tighter I hold the pistol, the worse the problem is.

Thoughts on how to remedy this one?

I would give Customer Service a call tomorrow. I'm not a gunsmith, but it sounds to me like the ambi-safety is separating (working itself loose), inside the frame.

We can be reached (toll free) at 866-DalySvc, M-F, 8:00AM to 4:30PM eastern time.

Thanks. I am having some issues finding out the proper way to send this back to the service center for repair. On the phone they said that I could send it back in the mail at the US Post office. I am looking on their website and the ATF site and it appears that I can't ship it via the USPS.

What is the proper method for sending this in?

They emailed me a FedEx tag to print out and put on mine. UPS is the other carrier that will take handguns. Prepare for sticker shock if you need to ship one yourself.

Cost me $25 to ship "another" pistol back through UPS and most of that cost was for the $1000 insurance.

PacketStorm,

Did our Customer Service Department offer to issue a UPS Call Tag? They should have and if they didn't please let me know.

By the way, you can ship a handgun through USPS back to the manufacturer/importer for warranty service. This is the only situation in which you can use USPS for shipping a handgun. Having said that, you should not need to use USPS; we should be handling that for you through UPS.

Thanks for the quick response. The customer service center did not give any information on getting me a shipping label. They just said that I had to mail the gun into them to be checked out.

I've been researching this a lot and from what I can find, only FFL's can ship handguns via USPS (US Mail). Since I am not an FFL, this option is out.
