I have one in caliber 38-55. Very nice. I love the set trigger setup. I wish the tang sight was adjustable for windage. Fun to shoot, not as much recoil as the 45-70's that I shoot. Recoil does whack my trigger finger on the trigger guard. I had to pad it with tape. All in all I love it. I want to get another in caliber 22 Hornet or 218 Bee.

JM,
Thanks for your post. Glad to hear you are happy with your Little Sharps.
The .22 Hornets are now in stock at all the major wholesalers. Time to pick up that 2nd one now! :D

My "little Sharps" 38-55 has a snug chamber. When loading for it I found that with Winchester brass I must use .375 bullets (jacketed). I can't use lead bullets with Winchester brass. I found that Starline brass is a bit thinner and I can load .376 lead bullets. Rounds will not chamber with anything larger. Apparently older 38-55's have sloppy chambers and can use bullets up to .381. Hope this helps.

Someday I hope to not have to buy so much for work and can go back to some of the classics like the Sharps... I've always wanted one. One in a 22LR would be an incredible nostalgic squirrel hunting rifle.

Hi bgjohn,
Our groove diameter is .380 on the 38-55. If you would like to shoot the larger diameter lead bullets up to .380, send us your rifle and we will ream it with an oversized reamer (from SAAMI dimensions). We are using SAAMI specs on our chambers. SAAMI chamber specs on this caliber are a problem towards the end of the brass of the cartridge in the chamber when using the larger bullet diameters.

No thank you. I like the way this shoots. I'll leave it as is.
