Was wondering how many of the compensated models were imported. If there is a link to look this up I would appreciate it. Thanks! Kman123 :)

Welcome to the forums kman!!!
I don't think I have seen any compensated CD 1911's, I'm anxious to see if there is any.

Not many around that's for sure, but I have my eyes on two. One is a full sized with three port comp and target sights. The other is a commander with single port and standard sights, both have ramped barrels and look hardly used. I have seen a stainless version of the full sized comp model a few years ago at a gun show and let it get away. Now that these two have popped up I am definately interested, just wondering how many were made, Blue Book has them as limited production 2001 only. These two are priced as used guns, $400 and $350, though they look new with original boxes.

kman123,
The Comp'ed 1911's you are looking at are "one of a kind". They were samples made for us some years ago. We never put them into production.
They are "new" in the sense that they were only ever test fired.
One note you should be aware of though, and that is they do not have ramped barrels.
If you need any further information, post here and we will answer.

Interesting. Anyone have a pic of these models?

Mr. Kassnar,
These comp. models weren't ever ordered, why? too expensive to produce, function problems, or were they ammunition specific? The gentleman I spoke to was from OH. I think he said he had six of these pistols at one time and two were all that was left.
I thought they had ramped barrels with a fixed comp. but I must be wrong, can you briefly explain the construction?
Thanks for the reply, It's encouraging to see someone of your position "on the front lines" so to speak, your commitment to customer service speaks volumes about the direction this company is headed, I wish you all the best.
BTW, I love my Maxi Mag field hunter, it's light and that's important when chasing turkeys over the rolling hills where I hunt.:D

kman,
We never produced the comp'd models because they were just too expensive for what we were trying to accomplish in our marketing. We felt that the consumer that wanted a comp was probably one that would not be looking at a CD in the first place. We always intended to add them to the line at a later date, and it just never happened.
We sold the samples to that guy in Ohio, not long ago. They definitely do not have ramped barrels. The comps are fixed to the barrels. I think I can find a picture tomorrow at the office and will post it when I find it.
Thanks for the compliments. We are really trying to provide the best Customer Service in the firearms business and if that means I have to stay up until 2:00AM answering questions and responding to customers, then so be it. I may not be able to do this forever, but if doing it now helps the cause, then my staff will learn from me what it takes to go the extra mile for our consumers, and when I'm no longer able, they will carry the torch for the company.
Glad to hear you are pleased with your Maxi-Mag! I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.
Come by and visit us often here. We need more members like you! (the kind that compliment me....:D)
Sincerely,

Does anyone have the info for this dealer?
My opinion only, but items like that would be great to offer on this website.

steel, it sounds to me like kman has first crack at these. I'm sure if he decides to pass he won't mind if I give you the dealer's name or he can do so himself.

Michael, with a moniker of "Steel", I'm sure this gentleman would not openly expose himself to humiliation on purpose. I'm sure it was an honest, unknowing error. :D I sure do appreciate you maintaining "gunshow etiquette" on an open forum, cause you sure could have hung me out to dry!;)
Steel, If I happen to get both these comp'd CD's, I would be happy to give you first dibs on the commander, If you live in Lexington, I'm not that far away and could save you the shipping. We can hammer out the details later, kkesler@cinci.rr.com
Michael, these samples, were they all in .45acp? were there only six of them? I hope you were able to keep one, I mean, how can a man sell all his children! Jeez:p

All in .45ACP and yes, there were only 6 of them. Unfortunately, I have to send them on their way from time to time because the stork keeps bringing new arrivals. I mean, the 2nd gun safe is already bulging! ;)

I'm not really "interested" as much as curious about these. I've never seen one, and I was going to hit the dealer up for some pictures. No way would I backdoor someone who finds a great deal, I will congratulate them with a big smile. My next CD purchase will most likely be an AR.
I really appreciate your offer kman!!! I hope you get them and post some pictures for us to see.

If I can get both of these it will be only natural to "show them off", I'm just dying to shoot the darn things! though a comp'd commander is an odd idea, Steel, if you happen to change your mind just let me know, offer is still good. Lets see if Michael can get pics up in the meantime,
