Thanks to rtintwo for providing the link to the Army's Technical Manual, TM 9-1005-319-23&P, covering the M16A2, A3, A4, M4 and M4A1. Some very useful information here, just remember that it is for full-auto firearms.

This manual has alot of very valuable info in it and should be the first place you look when your having problems with an AR. It will give you a factual answer.

Thanks to rtintwo for the tech manual on the AR. Even though it was written in "Army", and I was "Navy", I was still able to pull quite bit of info out of it and translate it into a "higher language"! (Sorry, an old Navy joke) Looking back a week or so, I'm not sure why this weapon design seemed so foreign to me, but it certainly makes a lot more sense now. I appreciate everyone's patience and courteous responses to my newbie inquiries.
