I was in a local Pawn Shop this Saturday and to my surprise I spotted a gold tone finished HP in the case. The place was about to close and I did not ask for the clerk to remove from the case, and I saw no markings that would let me know who mfg'd. Looked like it had been around abit from the wear of the finish on frame/slide. The trigger was what looked like gold plated to me. Now here is the question, did CD ever do a version like this, or am I looking at a BHP. Price for this puppy, $256.00, either way I might still aquire and re-do.

That's not a CD factory finish, and at that price, it's not a BHP. If I had to guess, I would say FEG or possibly an older FM. I saw one other gold tone FM Hi-Power on gunbroker once. That particular one was kinda hideous.
I would check to see the exact make, however, regardless of the make, if it's in good to great shape, it's well worth $256.

KBI never gold plated any FEG PJK-9HP's nor did we do any CD HP's with gold plating anywhere. The Browning HP did have a target model that was chrome with a gold plated trigger. But like steel said, a BHP at that price, if the barrel is still good, would be a steal!

I am not sure about FM, what is this make, I did however find info on FN HP and one of the photo's shows a gold plated trigger. I plain on using my lunch break tomarrow to go back and ask to see, hopefully the side laying down will give in-sight as to what this is. Can you give alittle info about the FEG HP as well. Thanks steel609.

This is an FM Classic Hi-Power. The FM is made in Argentina. I have never owned or even seen one in person. From what I have read, they are made on equipment bought from FN(Fabrique Nationale), or at least under license.
I don't know this info as fact but from many reports by others, the FM is in spec with the BHP, but the FEG was slightly out of spec on some items. However, most reported the fit and finish on the FEG to be a little better.
I know for a fact the FEG Hi-Power is a great shooter. I bought one for my son for his 21st birthday. I refinished it to make it just a little different fromn the rest and a little more personal to him. He loves it.

From the photo you posted I believe this just might be the pistol I am seeing at this Pawn Shop, The same grips are on this one too, but the hammer is not gold plated as the trigger is, however after I purchase, I intend to redo the complete pistol after I put a few down range. The only reason I want to redo is I just do not like that gold tint finish on the slide/frame, from the photo the pistol looks SS, but in real life, there is a lite gold tint to it and I just do not like. Think I will have Hard Chromed, swap out that gold trigger w/a C&S trigger and spring kit.

You are not the only one with that kind of luck. For me its ether find a good deal and have no money or find a good deal then said to myself I'll think about it and then its gone. I miss way over a 100 good deal so far with this kind of luck.

If it wasn't for Steels bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all. IMHO

I have learned a lession. If it is too good to be true, don't always pass up. I will say this however, the next day I was able to put on lay-away another 9mm, but sadly not a HP nor a CD, but it was such a great deal I was determine not to let this one get away. I lucked up on a Sig P225 German Police issue. This design owes its function to that wonderful Charles Moses Browning HP, the pistol functions in the same way the HP in recoil/feed. So I guess everything worked out, I just got a HP design in a differant pkg.

I thought about getting one of those Sig p6/225's, but couldn't find one that wasn't badly holster worn, so I passed. But from what I have read, they are great guns for around $300.
btw...it's John Moses Browning, not Charles. ;)

AIM Surplus was selling them for $225. I was saving for my first AR so I passed.

Those Sig P6 are nice. I have two, on one the finish looks nice with very little use on it and the other one the finish is well worn. But both are tight and shoot great. You can't go wrong with them. To bad CD dosen't sale them. If they did it would rank #2 after there CD HP's. The CD HP are NUMBER ONE as far as I concern. :D

Hey I am just so pleased w/my CD HP I get them confused:D
Everytime I get a few new guns and want to start shooting them, putting my Hi-Power to the back of the list, then I read how happy someone is that just got one, and my HP moves back to the front.
I have a Sig Pro 2022 9mm that I have never shot yet, So guys please stop reminding me how awesome the CD HP is, so I can shoot something else. :D
Yeah....like that is going to happen. ;)
